I often say I’ve been writing since I could scribble. That was before I knew to wonder what I wanted to be when I grew up, which turned out to be a teacher. I was fortunate to live my dream as a teaching professor. And I may teach again. But until then, I enjoy my writing. I write anything I want. Every day. Pinch me (OK, don’t; that would be weird).
You could say photography came later in life, but I don’t. That’s because my photography is an artistic pursuit, and I started ‘making art’ before I could even scribble pretend words. Art continued to flow through finger finger painting, colouring books, drafting dream home plans, knitting endless scarves to sweaters, passing pins to my mom to sewing just about everything, and then came photography. A way to capture art in nature and society.
I am grateful to live and play on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Nations. While I’ve lived and travelled elsewhere, I was born on the West Coast and am most at home enjoying the lifestyle our stunning Vancouver Island offers. I’m an avid hiker, kayaker, paddle-boarder, baker, sewer & knitter. And I’m grateful for a wonderful community of family and friends near and far.
